Not the Doctor?

Alanis Morissette is going to be in the upcoming season of Weeds! She is playing Nancy's ob-gyn, Dr. Audra Kitson and is appearing in at least seven of the season's thirteen episodes. Also included in the cast is the talented Jennifer Jason Leigh, playing Nancy's estranged sista. Sounds good to me. The season kicks off June 8 on Showtime.

I want to be a part of it...

Party girl: Did you see Mark last night? I mean, he was doing coke off a hooker's ass.
Party queer, pouting: I so did that last week, and no one even said anything...

--Third North Courtyard, NYU

Dirty old hobo to passing tourist girl: Mmm, mmm, mmm... I could eat for three days off your fat pussy.
Tourist girl: I'm not fat!
Dirty old hobo: No, but your pussy sure is.
Tourist girl, rushing away: I'm gonna cry.

The Flashy Girl from Flushing

I know it's last minute but I just caught a commercial on Nick at Night boasting their decision to start airing one of the best shows ever, The Nanny. They are kicking it off right with an all night long nannython beginning at 9pm on Sunday, May 10. Happy Mother's Day? I think so.

Talk About Practicality..

I recently came across these ridiculously absurd banana phone covers. Don't worry, they come in two sizes to accommodate all phone users.

Also, does anyone need a USB tie?

Panna II

If you have happen to be in Manhattan and are looking for an inexpensive, fun, BYOB restaurant, have I got the place for you! Panna II is an Indian restaurant located on First Avenue in between 5th and 6th Streets (at this location there are three other indian restaurants with workers trying their hardest to get you into their restaurant, make sure you go to the TOP RIGHT for Panna II). The food is good and inexpensive and there is plenty on the menu to choose from. The service is fast and the atmosphere is festive (you could even refer to it as a Festaurant) and is a great place to go with friends. Only way to know how awesome it is is to go and find out!

Vintage Tats

I have never been a big fan of tattoos (being a product of my Jewy parents definitely shows). However, something about tattoos from the olden timey days seems a lot cooler than tattoos today. Judge for yourself!

Got a Light?

This past weekend, my friends and I visited a few art galleries in Chelsea. We saw a lot of amazing artwork. The Gagosian Gallery consisted of a few paintings and a back room done by the artist, Yayoi Kusama. In this back room was a long line of people (all unaware of what they were actually about to see and not seeming to care) waiting enter this room within the room. Our curiosity led us to do the same. I cannot actually describe what we were about to see. We finally reached the front and entered as the door closed behind us. It was dark inside however there were many small lights that appeared to be suspended in mid air. The best part about it?...MIRRORS. All four walls were mirrored creating the illusion of infinite lights. It was absolutely breathtaking. I took a video which I was not supposed to do, although it does not do it justice, you can get the idea.

A Mammoth Story

Brought to us by National Geographic's totally awesome programming, a new special called Waking the Baby Mammoth is set to air on Sunday, April 29th at 9pm.

"Only a handful have ever been found before. But none like her. Her name is Lyuba. A one-month-old baby mammoth, she walked the tundra about 40,000 years ago and then died mysteriously. Discovered by a reindeer herder, she miraculously re-appeared on a riverbank in northwestern Siberia in 2007. She is the most perfectly preserved woolly mammoth ever discovered. And she has mesmerized the scientific world with her arrival - creating headlines across the globe. Everyone wants to know... how did she die? What can she tell us about life during the ice age and the Earth's changing climate? Will scientists be able to extract her DNA, and what secrets will it uncover?"

It's a Wrap

I recently watched a show on the Green Network produced by the Discovery Channel called Project Earth. On this show they figure out ways to combat the deterioration of our planet. The episode I saw was called Wrapping Greenland, where climatologist Jason Box offers a plan to prevent glaciers from melting by covering them with blankets that will reflect the sun.

Couldn't hurt to try right?

A Ticklish Plant?

I recently learned about what is known as the "ticklish plant," more uncommonly known as mimosa pudica (literally translating to sensitive plant).  Its leaves fold inward instantly when it is touched. You can buy one here. (disclaimer: harass plant in moderation)

Do Try This at Home

Here's 8 seconds of fun...

College!

I miss the ridiculous things that used to happen in my apartment at school. Things like this. 3314, i miss you (not you shelly).

"It was a spectacular travesty. I had tossed the can of minced clams onto the top shelf, and everything just tilted to the side and crumbled down in such a satisfying, slow-motion manner. That urine spot is actually water that leaked out of the clothing iron which was inexplicably in the “pantry”. Probably my bad. It does look like a hungry bear swiped his giant paws at the shelves, decided that he didn’t want the seven boxes of matzo, took a piss on the carpet, and scampered off." - Jessers

Holy Black Holes!

Nothing makes me wonder more than the topic of outerspace. I could think of any aspect regarding outerspace off the top of my head and then start researching so far into it that my brain feels like it could explode. My most recent obsession is BLACK HOLES. As defined by good old Wikipedia black holes are "a region of space in which the gravitational field is so powerful that nothing, including light, can escape its pull." Imagine that! Check out these cool photos and get sucked in like I was! (ha)

Best Friends!

Nothing warms my heart like best friends from different species...

Settlers of Catan

In case you are in search of another means of wasting your time on the internet, I suggest you learn how to play Settlers of Catan. My good friend Lauren introduced this unusual game to me and I have been hooked ever since. The first time I looked at it I was sure that I could and would never learn how to play. However, through many many hours of game play, I have learned all the tricks of the settling trade. The only way to really get the hang of it is to keep on playing. The basic idea is to gain a certain number of points through settling or building towns and cities on the map. There are other means of getting points and a bunch of other rules which are all explained here. (thanks cutes)

Register and begin playing here...

best game ever!

Queen Bitch Means Number 1 and 2

I would just like to point out that my favorite rapper, the fabulous Lil' Kim has been kicking ass on the unfortunately boring show, Dancing With the Stars. However, her majesty has been cutting the rug like there's no tomorrow. The queen bitch, most supreme bitch has been described by judges as "firey" and "nasty with the tushy." WOOHOO!

Frogged

Every week one of my favorite magazines, National Geographic releases something they call the Daily Dozen. Readers are able to send in photographs that they have taken in hopes of being selected by the editor as part of the Daily Dozen. I recommend checking it out because most of them really are awesome. While browsing them, I happened upon this gem...

The photographer, James Snyder explains...
This is a Cuban tree frog on a tree in my backyard in southern Florida. How and why he ate this light is a mystery. It should be noted that at the time I was taking this photo, I thought this frog was dead having cooked himself from the inside. I’m happy to say I was wrong. After a few shots he adjusted his position. So after I was finished shooting him, I pulled the light out of his mouth and he was fine. Actually, I might be crazy but I don’t think he was very happy when I took his light away.

Props to you, James and the Lighted Frog.

They Haven't Gotten Smaller, You've Gotten Bigger!

What better way to start off this eggy blog than to get into the love and respect that I have for Cadbury Eggs. I fell in love with them thanks to my good friend Lauren, who once bought 20 eggs for $20 (worth it) and dispensed them to me for good behavior throughout the year. The truth of the matter is that Cadbury Eggs have significantly decreased in size over these past couple of years. Don't believe me? Listen to what BJ Novak of The Office has to say on the issue!
